~ Belgian Chocolates ~
1 lb milk chocolate
1 square of unsweetened chocolate
1 egg
1 t vanilla
1 cup of chopped nuts**
(**hazelnuts are traditional in Belgium)
1 lb powdered sugar
In a double-boiler, melt chocolates together.
In a little bowl, beat the egg and then add
the melted chocolates. Add teaspoon vanilla,
nuts and powdered sugar. Mix in enough powdered
sugar to make a soft but non-sticky dough. Hands
work best in mixing in the powdered sugar. Roll
chocolate mixture into logs; about an inch thick.
Place logs on wax paper on cookie sheets and
refrigerate until firm. Cut into thin slices.
This recipe freezes very well.
Can be made well in advance.
