~ Pound Cake Cookies ~
3 sticks butter**, at room temperature
(**do not substitute margarine)
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
3 cups plain flour, sifted
1 t vanilla flavoring
strawberry jam or pecan halves
Preheat oven to 300F.
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks.
Blend flour into butter mixture. Add
flavoring. Refrigerate dough until
thoroughly chilled. Form small balls
about the size of a quarter and press
onto ungreased cookie sheet. Using
thumb, press indentation in top of each
cookie and fill with small amount of
strawberry jam or pecan half. Bake 12
minutes or until lightly browned. Cool
several minutes, then slide cookies off
pan, using a spatula. Keep stored in
an airtight container.
Makes 6 - 7 dozen cookies

For gift giving package cookies in cellophane bag.
Add to gift basket with favorite tea mixture, tea
infuser, and teacup or coffee mug. Embellish basket
with greenery and ribbon. Add gift tag.
