~ Oatmeal Candy Cane Cookies ~
1 cup margarine, softened
2 t vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
2 T water
2 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 cup oatmeal
red sugar
Preheat oven to 325F.
Cream the vanilla and margarine. Add sugar
and water. Sift together flour and salt;
gradually add dry ingredients. Stir in
oatmeal. Shape into candy canes or 3 inch
logs; place on ungreased bake sheet. Bake
at for 20 - 25 minutes. The dough will be
crumbly. Frost with sugar and water. And
sprinkle with red sugar.

Great gift for a neighbor. Package cookies in
cellophane bag. Place bag of cookies in a gift
basket that is fabric lined. Add a package of
coffee beans and a pair of coffee mugs.
Tie with a raffia bow.
