~ Brown Sugar Icebox Cookies ~
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
Cream sugar and shortening. Add beaten egg, vanilla
and nuts. Mix well. Sift flour and baking powder
together and add to mixture. Mold into roll, wrap
in wax paper. Chill thoroughly. Cut thin. Bake
at 350F until light brown, 8 - 10 minutes.

For gift giving place cookies in a holiday tin.
Decorate tin with country graphics. Embellish
with a homespun fabric bow.
