~ German Chocolate Cake ~
1--18.25 oz pkg chocolate cake mix
1 cup water
3 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1--14 oz can sweetened condensed milk**, divided
(**not evaporated milk)
3 T butter or margarine
1 egg yolk
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup flaked coconut
1 t vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350F.
Grease and flour 13×9 inch baking pan. In large mixing
bowl, combine cake mix, water, 3 eggs, oil and 1/3 cup
sweetened condensed milk. Beat at low speed of electric
mixer until moistened; beat at high speed 2 minutes.
Pour into prepared pan. Bake 40 - 45 minutes or until
wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. In
small saucepan over medium heat, combine remaining
sweetened condensed milk, butter and egg yolk. Cook
and stir until thickened, about 6 minutes. Add pecans,
coconut and vanilla; spread over warm cake.
Store covered in refrigerator.
Makes 10 - 12 servings

For gift giving bake cake in a decorative disposable
aluminum covered pan. Leave baked cake in pan.
Embellish pan with ribbon. Add recipe card.
