~ Butterscotch Brownies ~
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 t vanilla extract
2/3 cup whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup powdered milk
2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
2/3 cup wheat germ
Preheat oven to 375F.
Grease and flour an 8 inch square baking pan.
Combine the sugar, oil, and eggs; mix well.
Add the vanilla. Sift the flour; stir into
the sugar mixture. Stir in the milk, baking
powder, and salt. Dredge walnuts in flour.
Stir walnuts and wheat germ into the batter.
Spread the batter evenly in the pan; bake for
25 - 30 minutes, until the edges begin to brown.
Cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
Makes 16 squares

For gift giving bake brownies in a decorative disposable
aluminum covered pan. Leave baked brownies in pan.
Embellish pan with ribbon. Add recipe card.
