~ Apple Sour Cream Coffee Cake ~
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 t vanilla extract
1 t salt
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
1 cup sour cream
2 cups peeled, diced apples
1/2 cups chopped walnuts
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 t ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream together shortening, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
Add eggs and beat well. Into a separate bowl sift
together flour, baking powder, baking soda; add to
creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Fold in
diced apples. Pour batter into a greased 9x13x2
inch pan. Sprinkle top evenly with chopped walnuts.
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the
chopped walnuts. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

For gift giving bake cake in a decorative disposable
aluminum covered pan. Leave baked cake in pan.
Embellish pan with ribbon. Add recipe card.
