~ Hurricane Bread ~
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 t baking soda
1 t cinnamon
1/2 cup milk
1 cup raisins
1 cup cubed apples (1 to 2 small apples)
Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix sugar, shortening and egg together.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt
and cinnamon. Add to egg mixture, then mix
in remaining ingredients. Put batter into
a regular size loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
Makes 1 loaf

For gift giving wrap loaf with cellophane
and place loaf in a gift basket that is
fabric lined. Add a package of coffee beans
and a pair of coffee mugs. Tie with a raffia bow.
