~ Cinnamon Loaves ~
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening, softened
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
2 cups flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
1 1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 t ground cinnamon
1 1/2 t finely shredded orange peel
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream together the 1 cup sugar and the shortening until
light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Blend in the sour cream and milk. Stir together the flour,
baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed
mixture. Mix well. Spread 1/4 of the batter into each
of two greased 7x3 inch loaf pans. Combine the remaining
sugar, the cinnamon, and the orange peel. Sprinkle all
but 1 tablespoon over the batter in the pans. Top with
remaining batter. Cut through batter gently with a knife
to make swirling effect with the cinnamon mixture. Top
with the remaining sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Bake for 35 - 40 minutes.
NOTE: For one large loaf, bake in a 9x5x3 inch
loaf pan for 45 - 50 minutes
Makes 2 loaves

Place loaf in a gift basket that is fabric lined. Add
a package of coffee beans and a pair of coffee mugs.
Tie with a raffia bow. Add gift card.
