~ Chive Cheese Biscuits ~
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 t baking power
1/2 t cream of tartar
1/2 t salt
3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup snipped chives
Preheat oven to 400F.
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder,
cream of tartar and salt. Cut in cheese and
shortening until mixture resembles coarse
crumbs. Stir in milk and chives until moistened.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface; gently knead
8-10 times. Roll to 3/4 inch thickness; cut with
a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter. Place on an
ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 13 - 15
minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm;
reheat when ready to serve.
Makes 1 dozen
