~ Cherry Bread ~
4 cups all-purpose flour
16 oz maraschino cherries, drained
2 t baking powder
1 t salt
1 1/2 cups butter, softened
4 large eggs
2 t vanilla extract
1 t almond extract
1 cup milk
2 cups granulated sugar
Preheat oven to 350F.
Chop the drained cherries and set aside.
Sift together the powder and salt with the
flour. Sprinkle a tablespoon of the flour
mixture over cherries to coat. Cream the
butter and sugar until light. Add eggs
one at a time, beating well after each.
Add the extracts and beat well. Stir in
by hand the flour alternating with the
milk. When mixed fold in the cherries.
Grease and flour loaf pans. Bake for
about an hour. Test for doneness.
Makes 2 loaves

For gift giving decorate a plate with enamel
or ceramic paint. Let dry. Wrap loaf and
plate with Saran Wrap. Add Christmas greenery,
ribbon and gift tag.
