~ Autumn Bread with Orange Spread ~
2/3 cups shortening
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups pumpkin or 1 1/2 cups bananas
1 cup water
3 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t salt
1 t ginger
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t baking powder
2 t baking soda
~Orange Spread~
1--8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 small orange juice, frozen concentrate, softened
Preheat oven to 350F.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients; mix well.
Grease 3 loaf pans and sprinkle with sugar. Divide
batter evenly between pans. Sprinkle tops with sugar.
Bake for 1 hour or until tests done. Cool at least
10 minutes before removing from pans. To make spread
blend together ingredients. Package in small jar.
Store in refrigerator.
Makes 3 loaves & small jar of spread

Bake in a disposable pan. Leave bread in disposable
pan and wrap with Saran Wrap and top with ribbon.
Package spread in a small canning jar. Place both
in a gift basket. Embellished with Christmas ribbon
and greenery. Add gift tag.
