~ Almond Cherry Bread ~
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 t almond extract
1 t baking soda
1 cup of buttermilk
1/2 t salt
1 cup of chopped almonds
2 cups of flour
1--6 oz jar of Maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream sugar, margarine and extract together. Add
eggs, one at a time, beating well. Combine dry
ingredients. Blend into creamed mixture alternately
with buttermilk. Stir in almonds and cherries. Pour
into a greased, floured loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour
or until tested done. Remove from pan and cool.
Makes 1 loaf

For gift giving set each loaf on top of small
bread board. Wrap in Saran Wrap. Embellish with
a homespun fabric bow and gift tag.
