A fun and easy way to package great gifts for giving
Give jars by themselves or use as the perfect addition to any gift basket
Great idea for the holidays or any special occasion
~ Holiday Cookie Mix in a Jar ~
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 cup raisins OR chocolate chips
2 cups regular oatmeal, firmly packed
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg (for raisin cookies)
1 cup flour
Layer in wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar in order listed above
Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Holiday Cookies ~
1 jar cookie mix
3/4 cup butter
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350F
Empty jar of cookie mix into large mixing bowl
Use your hands to thoroughly blend mix. Add butter,
egg and vanilla. Mix until completely blended
You will need to finish mixing with your hands
Shape into balls the size of walnuts
Place 2" apart on sprayed baking sheets
Bake for 11-13 minutes until edges are lightly browned
Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet
Remove to rack to finish cooling
Makes 3 dozen cookies
