~ Herbed Rice Mix in a Jar ~
~Makes 40 batches~
1--3lb package long grain rice
2 cups dried celery flakes
2/3 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup dried parsley flakes
2 tbsp dried chives
1 tbsp dried tarragon
3 tsp salt
2 tsp pepper
Combine ingredients and mix well
Place 2 cups of mixture in wide-mouth 1-pint canning jar
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Herbed Rice ~
1/4 cup rice mixture
2/3 cup water
1 tbsp butter or margarine
To prepare one serving of rice:
In sauce pan over medium heat, bring water
and butter to a boil. Add rice mixture
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes
Remove from heat; let stand for 5 minutes
or until liquid is absorbed
Fluff with a fork
Makes 1 serving
