A fun and easy way to package great gifts for giving
Give jars by themselves or use as the perfect addition to any gift basket
Great idea for the holidays or any special occasion
~ Gumdrop Cookie Mix in a Jar ~
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups spiced gum drops**
(**10 ounces--cut into pieces)
Use a wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar
Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda, and add to the jar
Add the brown sugar, and press down gently to form a layer
Combine the granulated sugar and the gum drops to coat the
cut pieces of the candy with sugar, to prevent the candy
from clumping together and add to jar
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Gumdrop Cookies ~
1 jar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 375F
Remove gum drops from the jar, and set aside
Empty remaining cookie mix into a large mixing bowl,
and stir to combine. Add butter or margarine, egg and
vanilla extract. Mix until completely blended. Add
the gum drops, and mix gently. Shape into walnut-size
balls, and place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets
Bake for 12-14 minutes, until edges are lightly browned
Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet, then remove cookies,
and put on baking racks to finish cooling
Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies
