Gift-Size Sugar Cookie
~ Mix in a Jar ~
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups sugar
Layer in wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar in order listed above
Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Gift-Size Sugar Cookies ~
1 jar cookie mix
1 cup sour cream
1 cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350F
Empty cookie mix into large mixing bowl
Stir mix with large wooden spoon to evenly
distribute ingredients. Add sour cream,
vegetable shortening, eggs and vanilla. Mix
until completely blended but do not beat with
electric mixer. Mixture will be thick, so you
may need to use a wooden spoon to finish mixing
Roll out onto floured surface and cut shapes,
or shape into walnut sized balls, then roll in
sugar and place onto a greased cookie sheet
2 inches apart. Flatten sugar coated cookies
with bottom of a glass drinking glass. Bake
for 7-10 minutes until edges are lightly browned
Cool 5 minutes on cookie sheet and then place
ookies on baking racks to finish cooling
Makes 3 dozen cookies
