Creamy Wild Rice Soup
~ Mix in a Jar ~
1--2.75oz package country gravy mix
1 tbsp chicken bouillon granules
2 tsp dried minced onion
2 tsp dried celery flakes
1 tsp dried parsley flakes
1/4 cup uncooked wild rice
1 cup uncooked white rice
2 tbsp coarsely chopped dried mushrooms
Layer in wide-mouth 1-pint canning jar in order listed BELOW**
Pour gravy mix into canning jar
In small bowl, stir together bouillon granules, onion, celery and parsley
Pour into jar to make second layer
Add layers of wild rice, white rice and mushrooms
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Creamy Wild Rice Soup ~
1 jar soup mix
7 cups water
fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Empty contents of jar into a large saucepan
or Dutch oven. Add water; heat to boiling
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes
or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally
Garnish with parsley
Makes 6 servings
