Country Oatmeal Cookie
~ Mix in a Jar ~
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Layer in wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar in order listed above
Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Country Oatmeal Cookies ~
1 jar cookie mix
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven to 350F
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter,
margarine and vanilla. Add the contents of
the jar, and mix by hand until combined
Drop dough by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased
(or parchment paper lined) cookie sheets
Bake for 12-15 minutes
Cool on wire racks
