~ Black Bean Chili Mix in a Jar ~
1 whole bay leaf
3 3/4 cups black beans
~Seasoning Packet~
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp dried minced onion
2 tbsp beef bouillon
Mix and place seasonings in a small baggie
Layer in wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar
Place the seasoning packet and bay leaf on top of beans
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Black Bean Chili ~
1 jar chili mix
2 lb ground beef
1-29oz can diced tomatoes with juice
8 cups hot water
Remove beans from jar. Wash beans and place into
microwave dish and add water to 1 inch over beans
Cover with plastic wrap and poke three small holes
into top. Microwave on high for 9 minutes, rotate,
and microwave 9 minutes longer. Drain beans and place
into crockpot. Cover with water. In a frying pan,
brown ground beef and drain off all fat. Add to crockpot
Add seasoning packet, tomatoes and bay leaf. Stir
Cook on high for 5-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours
When done, remove bay leaf and discard
