Apple Brown Betty
~ Mix in a Jar ~
1/2 cup chopped pecans
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Pinch of salt
3 1/2 cups of dried unseasoned bread crumbs
Layer in wide-mouth 1-quart canning jar in order listed above
Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient
Put the lid on the jar and tie a homespun fabric bow around the lid
As an added touch, tie a wooden spoon to the lid
Attach jar labels to the jar with the following instructions

~ Apple Brown Betty ~
1 jar Apple Brown Betty Mix
5-6 tart apples
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup milk
Butter bottom and sides of crockpot
Peel, core and cut apples into eighths
Place apples over bottom of crockpot
In a saucepan melt margarine with the milk
Empty contents of jar into a large bowl and
toss with milk mixture. Place on top of apples
in crockpot. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on
high for 2 hours
Serve with ice cream
